A Guide to Ear Piercing Types
April 10, 2026
Ear piercings are the gateway for many people exploring body modification. Whether you want a single stud or a full curated ear, understanding your options helps you plan with confidence.
Lobe
The standard starting point. Quick healing, versatile jewellery options, and minimal discomfort. Most clients remember their first lobe piercing fondly.
Helix
Along the upper cartilage rim. Helix piercings add edge without extreme pain. Flat-back labret studs and small hoops are classic choices.
Conch
The inner cup of the ear. Inner conch piercings sit deeper; outer conch piercings sit closer to the helix. Both make excellent anchor points for ear curation.
Tragus and daith
The tragus sits in front of the ear canal; the daith folds into the inner cartilage. Both require experienced piercers due to anatomy variation and longer healing times.
Industrial
Two piercings connected by a single bar — typically across the upper ear. Industrials look striking but need careful anatomy assessment before proceeding.
Planning an ear stack
Many clients build their ear collection over months or years. Our piercers can map a long-term plan so each new piercing complements the last. Start with one or two and expand as previous piercings heal.
